Avodah helped set me on a course of social justice in my career and in my community involvement. As a Corps Member, I found both professional and personal avenues for growth and was fortunate to join a community of others looking for the same. The year I spent in Avodah was definitely challenging -- we worked long hours with clients facing extreme structural barriers, all on a small stipend -- but it was the most rewarding of my life. Despite being raised Modern Orthodox, I never learned Judaism's textual and historic bases for social justice until I joined Avodah. I am so grateful for the experiential education I received and the supportive community of which I'm now an active part!
