Review for Paso Pacifico, Ventura, CA, USA
I am a retired National Park Service employee. Because I served in the Peace Corps, I speak passable Spanish. When Paso Pacifico hired its first community-based rangers to protect turtle eggs from being poached and sold to restaurants in Managua and Costa Rica, they asked me to help these first rangers understand what rangers did, how they treated other people and what their role was in protecting the environment. PP is the most grass-roots organization with which I have ever worked. They are changing the environmental consciousness of the next generation of Nicaraguans. All the work is done by Nicaraguans in Nicaragua. PP facilitates the financial support. Their Junior Ranger program is outstanding.
