My Nonprofit Reviews
Review for International Snow Leopard Trust, Seattle, WA, USA
I discovered SNT through the conservation work that was featured in documentaries I viewed online. All of their efforts take place in the central Asian regions where snow leopards are indigenous. They set the model standard for snow leopard conservation. The single greatest threat to these big cats are human animal conflicts. SNT established an innovative solution to the animosity Sheppard's harbor towards snow leopards for occasionally poaching from their flock. A trust fund. SNT works with people, if they don't retaliate and kill the big cat, SLT will compensate them for their losses.
There are videos online where snow leopards have killed livestock but the farmers have not retaliated. Instead they contacted SLT who dispatched people to trap the cats, compensate the farmers and move the cats to a more appropriate location.
This is an organization that has the resources to work with governments in the developing world to protect snow leopards from extinction in the wild.
I donate and attend webinars as well as wear my merchandise with pride. #savethesnows
