Review for High Fives Nonprofit Foundation, Truckee, CA, USA
On September 11, 2007 I was working Construction and while I was framing a 2nd story wall near a stair well, I tripped and fell 8ft landing on the back of my shoulders and head breaking my lower back at T11-T12. This accident was forever life changing and left me paralyzed from the waist down & wheelchair bound. From that moment on, I accepted my injury and just wanted to move forward and get back to a “normal” life! Over the years I’ve learned so much and networked with so many great adaptive programs who have helped me get where I am today and that’s been 100% independent and as active as I can! Well throughout my journey, I kept hearing of these amazing athletes doing awesome things because of an amazing non profit organization called the High Fives Foundation! Well the more I learned about this organization I realized that it was more than just that! High fives is a family of amazing people who just want to enjoy life and pay if forward! In this past year, I was finally able to meet some of these amazing people and knew I had just become apart of this family, honorably. I look forward to the many possibilities that this program has to offer! It is because of non profits like this, I am able to continue to keep my independence and my wife and I are so thankful as without them I/we would not be able to make our new home fully accessible for myself!!
So if anyone is in the situation to be able to donate either time or money to this great non profit please do and keep up to date with where it’s going! It is because of them that adaptive athletes are able to do amazing things and continue to live as normal of a life as they can! I personally can not thank you all enough! Much love!
