Review for Homefront Inc, Lawrenceville, NJ, USA
As a member of the Development Committee of HomeFront, I am in a position to observe all aspects of the organization. Tackling the Catch-22 that so many working poor face (some income but not enough) head on is the key to HomeFront's success. It is the epitome of "teaching a person to fish". Their programs train their clients in all aspects of life, from job seeking skills to budgeting to parenting. Their committment goes far beyond a hand out and a place to stay for a while. They provide a solid hand grasp and a refuge where families can recoup, reassess and recover.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
At the Family Preservation Center run by HomeFront, I have seen shattered families actively engaged in regaining their lives. One example is the arts program which has grown from a theraputic outlet to a viable gallery that sells clients' works to the general public.
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
Encourage the executive board to concentrate more effort on endowment planning

What is unique about this organization?
It surpasses governmental assistance programs by concentrating on developing clients' skills to get meaningful jobs and offering the support necessary to allow the clients' to take advantage of the programs. Childcare and afterschool programs focus on the needs of the children while the parents can focus on moving forward.
