I am a new volunteer at Jubilee. The Episcopal documentary on the neighborhood that was produced earlier this year was quite moving and inspirational (link here - http://episcopalchurch.org/multimedia/jubilee/). On a personal level, I was glad to see private charitable efforts partnering with public efforts in addressing these sorts of systemic problems -- neither can have as much success working alone, in my opinion. The staff and volunteers are dedicated and all have clearly been touched by their involvement with Jubilee. It can be easy to live in a cocoon - in Dallas or anywhere - but organizations like Jubilee are helping to break down barriers and engage communities in outreach, understanding and advancement. What a joy to be a part of!
