In 2008, I was looking for an outlet for my children. Since music was always a way for me to help sooth their souls when they were smaller, I looked for things that would keep their attention and help them to focus. My oldest child had problems in school and amongst the vast majority of his peers. He was always in trouble, but he kept a set of headphones on. During my search I found With These Hands Mix Academy (a free program to teach children how to become disc jockeys). I never knew that this program would spark the interest of my children, but it did. I had finally found something that worked. My son became more aware of what he was doing, his behavior changed, his grades went from D's to A's. I was very impressed. He was no longer going to school to fight and talk back to teachers, he was learning how to control his anger through music. His senior year in high school was the day that I never thought that I would see. For his senior exit project, he chose to speak on the one thing that he loved, "Turntablism 101". He prepared his project with such care, making sure that each detail was carefully placed in its order. He went on to make the grade of 105 on his project and also received the "Perfect Project Graduation" award. Today, he is an instructor. Teaching younger students what he has learned, as well as being a disc jockey. With These Hands Mix Academy saved my child. He is now a confident young man with goals, values, and achievements. I thank this program and its mentors and instructors for leading the way and having a part in helping my son.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Other community organizations feedback. They are very impressed by the way the students are able to dj as events. Their skills and trades.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Help them to get a bigger facility with more instructors to help serve more students.

Role:  Client Served & I begin to volunteer and took an active role in my child's future. I have helped this organization by spreading the word to other parents. I volunteer as much as possible. .
