We have an inside apartment in the North End & I need to get outside for fresh air & sunlight. Being a Rose Kennedy Greenway volunteer I can dig in the soil, socialize with other people who love gardening & watch visitors enjoying the Greenway!

First of all, we love the Rose Kennedy Greenway! It is a green space that is enjoyed by kids, people on their way to work, eating lunch or just enjoying some quiet peace.
In summer it is buzzing but I especially enjoy it in winter. My husband and I love and need to be outside so we joined a pruning class...how can you beat it..free, small group instruction led by professional arborists. They are the friendliest, nicest bunch, relaxed and even funny. It’s also a great way to meet other volunteers who enjoy being outside. Pruning in winter is a special experience..we brave the elements together and develop a strong bond with the park; feel like it is our very own.
What a gem for the city that can be enjoyed by residents and visitors on so many levels; just walking through or put on your garden gloves and work beside the Greenway staff!
