Review for Harper for Kids, San Francisco, CA, USA
While searching for a character education program to bring to our schools, I came across Harper for Kids. I was immediately impressed with their program. Not only was their messaging very positive, but through their use of athletic professionals, students were drawn to their message. Not only do these athletes and coaches act as mentors and positive role models for our students, but they also reinforce the message that everyone should strive to reach their OWN personal best. Also emphasizing that one should not measure success by comparing themselves to others. Their program is based on the John Wooden Pyramid of Success, which has helped numerous athletes for many years. Harper for Kids have helped students build upon each block of the pyramid and help students attribute it to their own lives. This creates a foundation for them to find their individual paths to their own success.
Throughout the last four years in which I have gotten to know Tim and Peanut Harper, the founders of the organization, I have been impressed with their genuine concern for helping young people reach their own personal best. They have built an organization which helps to prepare youth for the obstacles which may occur in their lives and give them tools so they can become resilient over outside situations and elements. Something which has become increasingly important in this day and age. They teach values which will be of the utmost importance as students head down the road to adulthood, such as Confidence, Determination, Self-Control. All of which are presented through the message of individuals that young people admire and look up to.
I would highly recommend Harper for Kids to anyone looking to help students build their character in a positive way. It is such an essential part of learning which will help shape our youth and prepare them for what lies ahead. If their were 10 stars, I would give them 10!!!
