Review for US Naval Sea Cadet Corps, Arlington, VA, USA
I was in the USNSCC from about 1981 through 1986. The New Jersey Division, which at the time was operating out of Bridgewater / Raritan High School. I attended a two week Navy Bootcamp in Orlando, FL. I attended four or five Army - Navy football games at Veteran's Memorial Stadium in Philly. We attended about four or five Sea Cadet Parades in the Washington Navy Yards in DC. I spent two weeks aboard the USS Briscoe / DD-977, and spent two weeks at the USCGS at Manasquan Inlet, NJ. We even assisted in the opening day ceremonies of the USS Intrepid Sea/Air/Space Museum in NYC.
I was always going to be in the Navy, until I met a Vietnam Veteran Marine, who brought our unit out on night maneuvers at NAS Lakehurst, NJ, which completely changed my life course. I ended up spending eleven years in the USMC.
In this attached photo, two of these guys that I am still friends with about thirty five years later, and a third (not pictured), one retired a full Colonel in the US Army and one retired a Commander in the US Coast Guard, and one became a servant of law enforcement I have a successful career in private aviation now, and I owe everything I have to the Sea Cadets.
If I could do it all over again, I wouldn't change a thing.
Mikey, Rich, and Nifty-Swifty, love you brothers. Semper Fi.
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
