My Nonprofit Reviews
Review for Educational Pathways International, Incline Village, NV, USA
My name is Christiana Ameyaw. I am a second year student offering BSc. Midwifery at the University for Development Studies, Ghana. Educational Pathways International (EPI) is a non-profitable organisation which provides scholarship to brilliant and needy students, have impacted my life positively and made me comfortable as a student ever since I joined it.
Financial difficulties have been one of the major predicament my family has been facing ever since I was young. My mother is a food vendor at a primary school in my village. My father died when I was five years old. Financial barrier has haunted my family to an extent we could not afford to hire a single room for a family of seven people. We lived in someone’s uncompleted building which had no windows nor light. Due the financial crisis, my elder sisters ended up in teenage pregnancy. Two years after I completed Senior High School, a good samaritan came to my rescue and I entered the university. Unfortunately, he could not help me the following year. My mother spent her little savings on my transport and feeding. I was in deep sorrow and unhappy which affected my academics until EPI came out of the blues and wiped away all my tears. My family can now boast of two hired single rooms in my village since all the burdens on my mother was eliminated when I got EPI scholarship. I can now concentrate on my studies as well.
Also, talking about the benefits of EPI, the leadership programs, education and mentorship has impacted my life positively in my social and academic life. Educational programs such as report writing, how to speak in public and CV writings helped me in many ways. I make presentations in my class and am currently the general secretary for my hostel and church at the University for Development Studies.
One thing I have realized all my life is that the most important role of mankind is to live for the success of one another which can be attained by impeccable sound health. I chose to offer Midwifery because it has been my passion to save lives. Midwives work in all healthcare settings in a variety of way, providing women and their families with choices and continuity of care.
Upon a successful graduation, I shall set up a healthcare committee to provide education to the people of my community and the country at large, especially younger girls who are ignorant of the positive outcomes of education and may be prone to teenage pregnancy to come to the realization of the benefits of education than just giving up to indulge themselves in unhealthy lifestyle. I shall also contribute to the management of the immense risk of child birth in Africa continent, especially Ghana. I have devout my life to become an expert, possibly a Doctor of Midwifery practice to unravel the determinants of mortality rate in maternal and child birth.
With God Almighty, and by the help of EPI, I believe this is all possible. All thanks to EPI. It is my prayer that God grant all their heart desires and continue to bless the entire organisation.
