As someone who's been around the military for my professional career and supporting those who serve, I developed a keen awareness of their sacrifice and how important it is that we take care of those who've made the sacrifice for our nation particularly those that now need extra help in their daily lives. The value of a dog in the life of a person who needs that extra help, whether they be visually impaired, a veteran, or someone who just needs the emotional support, is life changing. I joined Southeastern Guide Dogs because of their mission to support this community and my love for dogs (yes, I'm a life long Labrador owner). It my time volunteering, I've seen the singular dedication to mission of the professional staff and volunteers to support this community. To see and hear the stories the graduating classes and what their new four legged best friend means to them is humbling. I always walk away thinking we have to grow this organization, there are more people who need this support!
