My Nonprofit Reviews
Review for The Clearity Foundation, San Diego, CA, USA
My wife was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in March of 2018. Needless to say, we did a lot of research during my wife’s battle with cancer and we continue to do so. What we learned is that ovarian cancer is decades behind most other cancer research and there are not many standard treatment options or research on them. Obviously, this is not what you want to learn about the disease that the love of your life has.
My wife is currently one of the lucky ones; she’s been in remission for about a year. The survival rate for ovarian cancer is much lower than many other cancers. Thus, there are less survivors; therefore, less advocates. This is why my wife and I have become strong advocates for ovarian cancer research. We have decided to help raise funds for the Clearity Foundation and here’s why:
1. They are actually involved in the treatment process and help people find clinical trials.
2. They offer “Tumor Blueprint.” Think of it as a profile to identify the characteristics of the cancer cells in a tumor and what drives its growth. This is used to aid your doctor in tailoring or identifying a better form of treatment. This is not a standard thing and if we had heard about the Tumor Blueprint we would have certainly used it.
3. They have performed hundreds of these tumor profiles and ARE ACTUALLY COMPILING DATA AND RESEARCH!!!
4. If my wife had a recurrence we’ll want and need help. And I have faith that we and others may find it here.
