About how NWFS leverages resources for their clients:

Ruth is an outstanding caregiver and was actually chosen as the CAREGIVER OF THE YEAR at Home Instead Senior Care, her employer. She also won the regional award for the Pacific Northwest. Bottom line is she is amazing and often gets up 4+ hours before her shifts to take a bus to get to her clients. She is also the primary caregiver to her disabled husband and her school aged child, whom are living at home. Recently she has been struggling financially and had to actually turn work down because she could not afford the bus money it would have cost to see two separate clients in one day.

Thankfully NWFS was able to provide enough bus tickets for her to go to work and she welled up with tears in her eyes and immediately began thanking them. She could not believe NWFS was giving her tickets and for free! She said the money she saved by getting those tickets allowed her to not only take on more clients, as she so desperately needed too but also freed up some cash for her to buy some essentials for her family.

Thanks again for the fare assistance! NWFS receives a fare relief grant from TRIMET and Ride Connection, thanks to this grant they are making a difference in the lives of people like Ruth.
