Review for American Bird Conservancy, The Plains, VA, USA
I've been a member of American Bird Conservancy (ABC) for many years now because of the important work ABC does to protect and preserve birds in the Americas. Their work encompasses preserving needed habitat not only in North America, but also in Central and South America where our birds migrate to in the winter. Without this critical connection, many of the birds we see everyday wouldn't survive because there would not be suitable habitat for them in their winter environment. ABC does this by partnering with local environmental organizations in these countries to buy and protect the habitat and through important educational programs to the local people. ABC also has partnered with farmers, hunters, businesses and other organizations in the US to promote education about bird species in decline and preserve habitat necessary for survival of these species. There are also outreach programs to cities about reducing light emissions at night during migration season as well as implementing safer, bird-friendly construction of buildings. All of these activities are ensuring birds will be here for our grandchildren and beyond. And on a personal level, I feel connected to ABC because they take the time to answer questions I pose and to lead local birdwalks that help me see and realize how beautiful and diverse our bird population is. I've never felt connected to a charitable organization the way that I feel to ABC. I know donations I make to ABC, no matter how small, are appreciated and used entirely to protect birds. It is truly the best charitable organization I belong to!
