I have been volunteering with Soccer Without Borders for about three years now and I love it! The SWB community is a second family for me. I am always looking forward to the energy of the kids, and seeing them grow and take on new challenges gives me great joy. I believe this organization is so special in the way that it brings people together from all countries and cultural backgrounds, ages and genders, etc. and creates an atmosphere for everyone to flourish. I have seen how this game of soccer unites us, breaks down our language barriers and makes even the quietest of kids smile and shout. Two great benefits of this program are that it provides students with homework help; and it also gives them a place to run around, have fun, and make friends after school. Even when the after school program has ended and the night is falling, you will still find kids kicking the ball around on the field, practicing their skills and having fun with friends.
