Review for Elizabeth Stone House, Inc., Roxbury, MA, USA
So many of the women who arrive at the Elizabeth Stone House fleeing domestic violence, or otherwise seeking help, arrive with children. The children are typically as traumatized as their parents. It's the work that this organization does to help these children that originally attracted me to the Stone House over 25 years ago, when my wife and I began contributing monetarily. I joined the board of the Elizabeth Stone House in 2014, just as the capital campaign for a new building was ramping up. This new building will enable the Elizabeth Stone House to obtain state day-care licensure for the Parent-Child Center, which will greatly expand the services provided to these children and their mothers. This new building will also support increased community programs as well as shelter and housing.
We also chose to support the Elizabeth Stone House because we believe contributions in the amounts we can afford to make, have a bigger impact when donated locally, rather than to a giant national organization.
