Being in country and serving these wonderful people I got to see that no matter what you have you can be happy. I saw that through service lives are changed. The people you serve are changed and the people that are serving are changed. Visiting this little village in Thailand made so much more grateful for what I have and it also gave me a good sense of responsibility. I have all these privileges that so many in Thailand do not do I have to use them to help those around me in the US and those also in other countries. Just like the quote “With great power comes great responsibility”. I truly feel that and feel like I have an even bigger responsibility to help the people around me at my school, in my home, and in my community with the problems they face. After coming home from Thailand I see the world with a new perspective. I see people with a new perspective of compassion and feel the want to serve them more. Overall, I am so great that you have supported me in this life changing experience.
