My Nonprofit Reviews
Review for Canine Humane Network, Highland, MD, USA
PLEASE READ ALL OF THIS BEFORE TRUSTING THIS ORGANIZATION. This might be a one in a million experience but people deserve to know what this place has done. I got a dog from this horrible organization as a foster to adopt. Shortly after, I realized he was sick and took him to the vet. I took him to two separate appointments. I found out he had bladder stones and the vet recommended surgery. I was told I couldn’t make any decisions as a foster so the vet had to contact the shelter. I WOULD HAVE HAD THE SURGERY THAT DAY IF IT WAS UP TO ME. As soon as CHN found out they stopped communicating with me. THEY NEVER CALLED ME. EVER. The few times I ever spoke to them over the phone was when I called them. I got more info through the vet then I did them. I was constantly told they’d “call me back”. I Told them on Monday 9/9/19 I was bringing him back because to me I thought they’d finally get him the $1500 surgery he needed. And I really hope they do. This dog is my main concern. This has all happened within two weeks. The vet appointment was 9/3/19. I waited a couple days to hear from them and when no one contacted me I called the vet. The vet had cut all ties with CHN. No one at that vet could say anything good about CHN when I asked how they felt about them. The same day I found out they hadn’t made any plans for surgery I told them I was taking him back because I’d waited long enough and I didn’t want to waste anymore time. So I told them I’d bring him back. Last night I made plans to bring him back Sunday-keep in mind this was an incredibly hard decision to make. I couldn’t get him the surgery since I don’t own him and they weren’t making any plans or making any progress whatsoever. I thought if I brought him back they’d finally take care of him. Today (9/13/19) I got a phone call from THE POLICE they reported me for 1. Having a sick dog and refusing to get treatment (took him to the vet 2x in one week) 2. Refusing to pay for him (he’s a foster to adopt which means there’s a trial period. DURING THE TRIAL PERIOD WE DISCOVERED HE WAS SICK!) 3. Refusing all communications with the shelter. THEY wouldn’t answer MY calls. 4. Threatening to shoot the dog in the head over taking him to get treatment. Seriously. They said that. I swear on my life I’ve never and will never say that and absolutely would never ever do that. It takes some sick minds to come up with and accuse a 19 year old girl of that. This organization is a mess. I do not trust them to get this dog surgery and they won’t let pay for it. Im writing this review in the hopes someone sees it and it puts a little pressure on them. I want this dog to get better and I really hope they do too. Please get him treatment. They contacted me constantly throughout the trial period about how everything was working out and when did I want to officially adopt them. Most importantly when I’d pay $350 for an unhealthy dog. However the second I discovered he was sick and needed surgery there was radio silence on their end. I have not gotten a phone call, text, or email since 9/4/19. Since then I have made all communication efforts even though I was promised “they’d call me back”. This is important. You’re a dog shelter, take care of your animals and be decent human beings. It scares me that the second someone is concerned about one of their dogs their response is to file a police report. I do not trust these people and I think their “charity” is a scam.
