My involvement with ROSL began 2 years ago out of a new-found love of horses. I just wanted to work with the animals. The group offered so much more. The organization provides critical programs for special needs children and veterans. The benefit from developmental activities in equine-assisted therapy (EAT) augments other traditional programs. As a side-walker, I’ve seen the children react to the horses and express themselves with emotions not exhibited elsewhere. Veterans with PTSD overcome the scars from past trauma and learn to trust and love again, first with the horses and eventually other people. Many veteran programs now include EAT but they are not conveniently located for everyone to benefit. ROSL is a tremendous asset for the communities it serves in the metropolitan area.
