Review for Lazarex Cancer Foundation, Danville, CA, USA
After being diagnosed with my second brain tumor in three years at the age of 38, I was devastated. I have two children, a loving husband, and a career as a school social worker and began to imagine what would happen if this brain tumor took that away from me. The diagnosis was ogliogdendroglioma grade II - a reoccurring cancerous tumor that will plague me for the rest of my life. Then came my second awake craniotomy surgery. Then, UCSF offered me some hope with a clinical trial for immunotherapy that can train my body to attack the cancer cells. It would require me to fly from my home in Idaho to San Francisco more than a dozen times with hotels and other expenses. This is something that would have been out of reach on my social work salary. The Lazarex Foundation helped me afford the travel and hotel and has given me a chance at life. They have helped me with the financial part of travel and hotel which has taken the stress of financial off of me and allowed me to heal and spend time with my family. I cannot thank them enough. Their staff is kind and understanding and have shown my family compassion during a time we needed it.
Thank you Becky! This is a tough life experience and we are here to help make sure you can continue with your treatments. All the best to you and your family.
