My Nonprofit Reviews
Review for Reading to Kids, Los Angeles, CA, USA
This group is the epitome of the old adage: Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has. From the moment I arrived at my first volunteer event, I was impressed. The organizers, volunteers, school administration personnel, and especially the parents and kids participating were absolutely wonderful! Everyone was welcoming, engaged and gave me a reason to return. Due to their commitment, I have recruited others within my organization to donate time and we have even obtained a financial contribution from our company. Everyone I introduce to this volunteer effort has had the same feedback..."Wow, this is really a great way to spend a Saturday morning"! I agree whole heartedly. The children steal your heart and the organization makes it easy to follow it.
I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
the positive way it changes the people who participate (both volunteers and kids). The children's faces when they see you again! The love of reading that this group engenders! The crafts the kids make to bring the images or lessons from the books alive!
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
find more ways to fund this outstanding group that would allow for the model to be rolled out to similar schools all over.
What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
the way the kids faces light up when you read to them and engage them! The way that they respond when the see you back for additional months!
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
extremely dedicated and giving volunteers there to make a difference.
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
take it's model nationwide.
Ways to make it better...
Not applicable! My experience could not have been better.
