Who enjoys feeling left out? As a traveler in various parts of the world, I know what estrangement feels like when language skills are weak. I don't get the jokes, or good service, or proper care for my family. It's uncomfortable and downright scary to be in that situation.

I also know how awesome it feels to come to a new community and be given the chance to use my skills to help others.

Loudoun Literacy Council connects people who need language skills with people who need to feel useful. It's a win-win program that not only connects student with teacher, but does so in a way that is organized, supportive and successful. Way to go, LLC! Over the last four years, you enhanced my life because you allowed me to enhance the lives of others.
