Our team spent a week with Mission Guatemala stuccoing and plastering the exterior walls of an addition to a middle school. We worked with Guatemalan construction staff and translators. In spite of a few translation difficulties and our lack of skill we successfully completed the work. The staff at the River House was welcoming and supportive. The facilities are quite comfortable and the beauty conveys a sense of peace. The only downside was dogs barking in the night that interrupted our sleep. That’s out of MG control. They did a great job of introducing us to the culture of the area. We came away with a sense of the challenges and the hope in Guatemala.

I have returned from my 8th mission trip with Mission Guatemala. I continue to be inspired by their work which empowers the local communities in the municipality of San Andres, Semetabaj and focusses on improving the health, education and nutrition of the people. They navigate the changing and developing needs of the communities in very humble ways, seeking nothing in return except the vitality of the community. The presence of teams coming from the United States speaks volumes of love. It's one thing to send money. It's a much deeper action to actually show up and bear the burdens shoulder to shoulder with the people of Guatemala. This mission will change your life.
