Review for NatureServe, Arlington, VA, USA
NatureServe is an invaluable coordinator for biodiversity data. With strict data standards, member programs from all U.S. state, Canandian provinces, and several countries around the world can share data to evaluate local, regional, national, and global biodiversity needs. But they also allow for certain flexibility for individual member programs to work within their own financial, political, and prioritization structures. The spatial database and onging technological advances and projects (handheld data collection software, observational database, sharepoint, climate change vulnerability index tool, etc.) keeps this organization at the forefront of conservation.
