I have worked in the environmental field for more than 35 years, both as a funder and as a practitioner. In all my work, there are only a handful of organizations that demonstrate the efficiency and effectiveness of American Bird Conservancy. For a relatively small staff, they cover a huge geography, a wide range of issues, and they punch way above their weight in terms of affecting the outcomes of legislative and regulatory discussions and protecting resources on the ground. ABC is a partner-oriented organization that helps build local capacity across the Latin American countries in which they operate. ABC's overhead is very low and its program allocation - how much of every dollar that goes directly to program - is very high, truly a winning combination for any donor, partner or prospective employee.
