Review for American Foundation For Relief And Reconciliation In The Middle East, Santa Cruz, CA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

For the past 4 years, ever since my family and I were displaced when ISIS invaded Iraq in 2014, I have not received proper medical care. This was due to the fact that we were constantly on the move as well as the fact that my family didn’t have the money we needed to go to a medical doctor. I was lucky enough to be mainly ok compared to others who suffer so many physical problems. My mother and my sister both needed medical care and were unable to receive it for so long, so any money that we had went to try and get them doctors appointments and medicine, along with being able to move to Jordan.
Over the years I started getting really bad headaches. I didn’t want to complain because we had so many other problems to worry about. When we came to Jordan they increased and finally, we realized it was from my poor eyesight. I was given a pair of glasses from a friend with her prescription. They helped improve my eyesight, but they broke, and I’ve been wearing them taped together for the past year.
Because of FRRME America’s donation, I was able to finally go to an actual eye doctor and receive prescription glasses that actually are made for my eyes! I am so thankful. I never would have asked for this because there are so many other priorities, my mom and sisters health, rent, medicine, school payments, food, I never wanted to complain. But when Meg visited, she noticed that I needed this before I even did and it’s made such a difference! I can now concentrate at school and a lot of the pain I had from before is gone. I didn’t even realize that the other glasses weren’t working as they should until FRRME America stepped in to provide for this specific need. Thank you FRRME-America!
