Review for Gunnars Wheels Foundation, Strum, WI, USA

Rating: 5 stars

Our animals are part of the family, so when my 15 year old pug began having health issues we searched for everything possible to make her comfortable. After several doctors visits we learned she most likely had a brain tumor that caused a stroke and caused her front legs to become very unstable. She quickly lost all use of them and her quality of life was slowly declining. I had started to research wheelchair options in Hope's of making our own and sent a message to Gunnars Wheels simply looking for advice on what style chair would be best. I never expected them to offer us a complimentary set of wheels. They were extremely helpful with getting the correct measurements and making sure everything was all set to go. Once we got our beloved dog up and going again, she had a new light to her. After months of being immobilized she was finally able to stand up and wheel around the backyard. We were given a very poor diagnosis from veterinarians but she managed to perk up and love 8 months longer than anyone expected. Without her wheelchair I do not think we would have gotten the chance to see our dog happy again and properly celebrate her last days. We are incredibly grateful for the gift we recieved and our hearts were lifted knowing that once we returned the chair it would be going to help another dog live its life to the fullest. We still support and donate to this wonderful organization and love seeing all the updates and success stories on their social media feed. Every animal deserves a second chance at mobility and Gunnars Wheels helps make that happen without asking for anything in return.

I miraculously found this group after searching for ways to build a wheelchair for my dog who could suddenly not walk or stand due to a stroke caused by a brain tumor. I reached out to them for advice and they kindly offered to donate a chair to my beloved senior dog. Our dog was able to be herself again and being in the chair gave her almost another year past her terminal diagnosis. Being immobile is depressing for animals and Gunnars Wheels brings joy to their lives again.
