Review for Parrot Outreach Society, Punta Gorda, FL, USA
We already had a flock of 5 birds and we often went to the Parrot Outreach Society to donate things and buy toys. We always took a stroll through the rooms to marvel at the beautiful birds. We felt we had enough birds, 3 male Indian Ringnecks and 2 female Green Cheeked Conures so we really didn’t consider adoption. One day while walking through I saw a sweet little female IRN. The more I watched her I noticed there was something wrong with her legs. We asked if we could take her out of her cage. We also asked her story. Her last family had found her hobbling down a road. At some point in her life both of her legs were broken and it appears she never had any treatment. The family took her in but then had to move overseas and she could not go. From the moment I picked her up and she layed on my chest I was hooked. She taalked to me and gave me kisses and that was it. We knew she belonged with us. We visited her a few more times and then brought her home. Adopting a special needs bird has been so rewarding! She fit right in with our flock and with a few modifications she is able to be with her flock. The work that the Parrot Outreach Society does is amazing. The birds are well cared for and you feel the love bestowed upon them by the staff and volunteers!
