Review for Cambodian Community Dream Organization, Inc., New York, NY, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I absolutely love the Cambodian Community Dream Organization, Inc! My mother-in-law has enthusiastically been volunteering in the region, and specifically with this organization, for many years now. She first brought it to our attention a few years back, and we have been donors ever since. My American parents are retirees from the public school system in Washington State, but they were still young-at-heart and felt they had a few adventures left in them when they ended their careers in Seattle, WA. They decided to move to Southeast Asia post-retirement and take 3-year international teaching engagement at the Yangon International School (Y.I.S.) in Myanmar. While they were at Y.I.S. they brought entire classes of their Burmese high school students to volunteer with the CCDO during the students' annual Week-Without-Walls school trips to Cambodia. My parents and their students have fond memories and tell heartwarming stories of their overwhelmingly positive impressions and interactions within the CCDO community.

For our recent wedding, instead of a gift registry my husband and I elected to have a nonprofit registry. We set it up on the charitable registry website "The Good Beginning" and chose a small handful of nonprofits & causes that are nearest & dearest to our heart. We asked our wedding guests to please donate to these organizations in lieu of giving us wedding presents. The organization that was the hands-down, no-competition, fan-favorite for the majority our wedding guests? Yup, you guessed it; CCDO.

CCDO's range of projects, degree of efficacy, and scope of impact is flat-out-impressive... but those important factors alone are not what moved us to embrace it and become monthly donors. What is most moving about the CCDO is the palpable passion of every single person involved with this nonprofit--from the director, to the Cambodian employees, to the international volunteers, to the beneficiaries themselves.

A fervent sense of purpose... measurable quantitative and qualitative improvements in a severely resource challenged environment... countless lives impacted for the better... the priceless smiling faces of engaged school children in a joy filled, thriving educational community... tremendous resilience in the face of adversity... wonderful donor engagement & remarkable transparency... all of these hallmarks of the CCDO.

In summary, the Cambodian Community Dream Organization is one dream of a nonprofit.
