Review for Labrador Rescuers, San Diego, CA, USA
I was not ready to get another dog after we lost one of our labs, and 2 years later the other, to cancer. They both came to us from Labrador Rescuers and after 8 months without a dog in the family we decided that adopting a senior would be a great way to give love to a lab that really needed a home. Of course we went right back to Labradors Rescuers. My "matchmaker", Vicky, was great. I fell in love with every dog I met but she kept me focused on waiting for the dog we wanted - one that was great with kids, could come to work with me and hang out in the office, and would not chase my cats or chickens. She called to tell us she found the perfect dog for us. A 12 year old chocolate lab who had been used for breeding and now that she was too old to have puppies, her owners no longer wanted her. "Alice" was fostered by Kirk when we met her. She was not toilet trained and did not really know how to play or run. Alice was very nervous and shy, but obviously a very sweet dog. Kirk's job was to advocate for Alice and make sure she went to the right home. We decided right away that she was the one, and Kirk agreed. We renamed her Madison aka "Maddie". Both Kirk and Vicky were professional and full of heart every step of the way. Maddie is sleeping at my feet as I write this. She is a very sweet and beautiful girl that is now in her forever home, learning how to be a dog with her very own bed, toys, family, and getting spoiled rotten! We love her dearly. I highly recommend Labrador Rescuers to anyone looking for a lab or lab mix as a companion. They work hard to find the right match, and they really care about the dogs and people they work with.
