Review for Educational Pathways International, Incline Village, NV, USA

Rating: 5 stars

My name is Maxwell Nyadeva, a final year Chemical Engineering student at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) Ghana. I was awarded Educational Pathways International (EPI) scholarship in October 2017. EPI is very competitive and it is one of the best scholarship organizations that every student wants to be enrolled on. EPI family is known for its interest in needy and brilliant students in the universities in the country. EPI is the only non-profiting organization that offers full scholarship to gifted students in my university and I am honored to be a beneficiary of this scholarship program.
I am the first out of eight children to be in the university due to financial constraints and inadequate funds to sponsor my elder siblings’education. Fortunately for me, EPI intervened in my situation. This has been one of my greatest blessings in life. My academic life has improved. Before my enrollment I was very unhappy and hardly participated in class. It was not that I couldn’t do so but my circumstance did not permit me. This had an effect on my academic performance. But since I was given this scholarship I actively participate in all classes and lectures and my performance has improved tremendously. I also have a laptop now to help me with my studies and also my research work. I now have the freeness of mind to study and also pursue my academic and career goals.
I met new friends in EPI family and this has improved my social life too. During EPI meetings, we are taken through a lot of topics that will prepare and shape our lives for the job market like how to write accurate Reports, Entrepreneurial skills just to mention just a few. Most importantly is how EPI has brought happiness into my life and family. I and my family is very grateful to EPI.
The versatility of my programme of study infirmed my decision for choosing it. A degree in Chemical Engineering is needed in almost all the firms and industries in Ghana, be it in Ghana Water Company Limited, Food and Drug Authority, Cocoa Processing Industries, Pharmaceutical industries, Cement processing industries, Polymer (plastic) production, Environmental pollution control agencies, Crude oil drilling and refining companies and many others. Also the demand for Chemical Engineers across the globe is high. Due to the issues of employment I decided to go for a profession that is not only theoretical but practical too. With the skills learnt in school I can set up a small scale firm right from my kitchen or backyard like soap production, yoghourt processing and other raw material transformation.
Upon graduation, it is my goal and aspiration to set up a small scale firm. As a Chemical Engineer, it is my responsibility that the environment in which we leave is safe from all kinds of pollution. In Ghana, plastic waste pollution is one of the major menaces in the country. This has resulted in one form of problem to the other. As a young person, upon graduation, it is my career goal to do more research in Plastic Pyrolysis and design plants to curb or reduce this menace. This will also provide employment for others.
My educational pursuits as at now would not be possible without the generous support from EPI. Thanks to the entire EPI team with the mission of recognizing, nurturing, and supporting gifted young people through scholarships and educational programs.
