Review for Labrador Rescuers, San Diego, CA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

We have been lucky enough to add the best two dogs for our family through Labrador Rescuers. We have always felt that rescuing our pet was a benefit for the dogs and our family. We first became a Labrador Rescuer adoptee in 2004. The application process was simple and the members were very quick to help us complete all the steps necessary to be an approved family. Our first dog (Nassau) was selected at one of the Labrador Rescuers adoption events. We had been reading up on 3 or 4 dogs that we thought would be a good match. The information provided by the fostering families helps in so many ways. We felt very confident that our choice would be a forever match. And it was. Nassau was 1 year old when we got him. He is now 7 years old and the most loving fun filled dog ever :-). Now seven years later we have added yet another Lab to our family. Lucky for us, we had the same Lab rep (Sandie) help us in finding another forever match. Sandie was again always avaiable to answer questions and helps us select the best match for our family. In January we met and added Kingston to our family. Kingston had been in a shelter after being hit by a car. Labrador Rescuers brought him in to their organization once it was clear no family was going to get Kingston from the shelter. He had several cuts and scratches as well as a broken shoulder. Labrador rescusers brought him to one of their vets. They kept his progress on healing and availability for adoption on the Lab Rescuers website. We had selected that we wanted Kingston in December but needed to wait until January for him to be healed enough for adoption. Because of Kingstons injuries, he had not been fostered with any of the volunteers. After a very candid conversation with us we were allowed to foster Kingston with the intention to adopt him. Well, upon meeting him with the whole family ( our two sons and Nassau) there was no question that we had forund the right match. We did need to keep the two now 4 legged brothers relaively low in energy for the first two weeks. I will be honest, that was almost impossible. They get on so well and play non stop :-). But I am happy to say, we have just finished our final vet visit with x-ray( all at the Labradors expense ) and Kingston is fully healed and able to do all the things Labs love to do!!!! I have no doubt that we will be adding more Labs to our family over time and we look no further then Labrador Rescuers :-)
