Review for Homeless Empowerment Program, Clearwater, FL, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I have been a volunteer at HEP for more than 6 years. During the pandemic, I was not able to work because all volunteer jobs were taken over by staff in order to protect the volunteers. I have missed helping very much and am anxiously awaiting the return of normalacy when I can once again offer my services. HEP is an outstanding organization and the staff and volunteer workers are all kind, caring, people who work tirelessly to serve those less fortunate. They make an extraordinary difference in the community by providing care and a way out of homelessness. Sincerely, Lynne Read

I have voulunteered working in the kitchen serving lunch for about 5 years. I enjoy helping and contributing in a small way to help those less fortunate. HEP serves wonderful nutritious meals to its clientele and treats everyone with respect.

Through my church I worked with two ladies who through a series of circumstances beyond their control had been homeless for over 3 years. HEP was able to provide them with an air conditioned room, access to free medical and dental facilities, three nutritious meals a day, counseling and financial help to make the first month's payment on their new "home" - their first permanent living situation in a very long, heart-breaking time. Thanks to HEP they have a new start on life and hope for the future!

I have volunteered serving lunch and occasionally dinner at HEP for about 4 years. I enjoy working with the kitchen crew, who not only are wonderful cooks, but take the time to interact with the volunteers and the residents who live at HEP. They are very organized and professional and have very high standards for cleanliness in food preparation and serving. The residents receive counseling, job help and medical and dental treatment as part of their care while at HEP. They are treated with respect and caring and are also provided with extraordinary help in all aspects of their lives to enable them to make a better life for themselves in the outside world.
