Review for Modest Needs Foundation, New York, NY, USA

Rating: 5 stars

Modest Needs is the one charity to which I faithfully donate. Their staff has repeatedly proven their trustworthiness in allocating funds and their dedication to performing charitable work in a manner that is both business-like and compassionate. When I give to Modest Needs I know *exactly* where 100% of my donation is being dedicated. In fact, I have the ability to select individual applications to which my money is allocated and I frequently receive matching monies to allocate through the generosity of larger foundations. These are powerful factors that cause me to avoid giving to other charities. Even if my donation is a mere $5.00, I know that it truly makes a difference.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

the ability of a nurse to keep her certification up-to-date or a family to recover after the illness of the primary breadwinner.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

continue to grow in a conservative and responsible manner.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

the feeling that I can directly influence the lives of applicants in a direct way.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

always professional and responsive.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

continue it's work indefinitely.

Ways to make it better...

there was a way to get a sense of the sentiments of other donors.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

conveying to new donors how powerful it is to know where 100% of your donation is going.

One thing I'd also say is that...

While it is 'modest' donations that drive this charity, I feel that the large matching fund donation is the key to the significant successes in growth, in recent years.

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?

2009

Role:  Donor & Regular contributor for many years.
