Review for Breast Cancer Options Inc, Kingston, NY, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I first became involved with Breast Cancer Options five years ago as a volunteer and am now currently serving on their board. The organization has experienced cuts in funding this year and is struggling but continues to provide the services it has in the past. We sponsor a camp in the summer for children whose parent has breast cancer; acupuncture treatments; peer support groups; advocacy and information about breast cancer and treatment. The organization serves Ulster, Columbia, Orange, Dutchess and Green counties in New York State.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

The Director, Hope Nemiroff, works endlessly to bring these services to the people living in the Mid-Hudson Valley. She has helped so many people by providing information and services.

If I had to make any changes to this organization, it would be to get more volunteers to help with the various tasks that must be completed in order to provide the wonderful services that we do. Funding has been cut, which means we need to do more fundraising and this requires the aid of more people. If anyone would like to volunteer for this wonderful agency, please call Hope at 845-339-4673.

Role:  Board Member & I serve on the board and help in many other tasks.

Review for Breast Cancer Options Inc, Kingston, NY, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2002 and at that time, I was unaware of Breast Cancer Options. When I did learn of BCO, I wanted to give back and so I became a volunteer. Based on all I know about the organization now, I wish I had been aware of their services. I certainly could have used the advice and support the organization provides to the community and individual people. Even after diagnosis and treatment, I have received invaluable advice from Hope Nimeroff which has included doctor referrals, lastest treatment trends and other complimentary treatments. This organization is such an asset to the resident's of our area.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

seeing how many people they help each day and how their services have provided encouragement, education and support.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

seeing how many people the organization reaches and helps.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

so dedicated to the cause and have given 110% to make the organization the best that it can be.

How frequently have you been involved with the organization?

About every month
