Review for Preeclampsia Foundation, Melbourne, FL, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I have been volunteering for the Preeclampsia Foundation for the past year. It is a very personal journey, as my husband and I lost our son, who had to be born at 22 weeks because I had severe preeclampsia. Volunteering for this organization has been a wonderful experience. Every person that I have met through this foundation has been professional, compassionate and willing to do what it takes to find a cure. As a survivor I have comfort volunteering with the Preeclampsia Foundation and would suggest to anyone who has had this horrible disease that learning about the foundation will help with the healing.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Support! The Preeclampsia Foundation offers many layers of support, both through local events (ie: walks/ presentations) and the incredible online community. There are multiple forums in which other survivors and families can talk together and heal.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Continue to grow! Bring in more dollars! Fund more research! Find a way to end this disease!

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

Sharing. It is very therapeutic to talk with others who have lived through the same experience. And it is helpful to be able to share my story and perhaps help someone just starting their journey.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Knowledgable, eager to help share info and guide me through the healing process. And everyone is very passionate and dedicated! It is a teriffic group of volunteers!

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Fund extensive research ad testing! Until there is a way to stop moms and babies from suffering, there is a need for dollars!

Ways to make it better...

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

As with any non-profit today, I think the biggest challenge will be the economy. However, with that said, this was the most successful year for National Walks to date.

One thing I'd also say is that...

I am so glad I found the Preeclampsia Foundation. It has been a great support for both me and my husband!

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?

Role:  Volunteer & I helped organize a Patient Symposium in 2009 and volunteered as Media/Sponsorship Coordinator on National Walk team in 2010.
