My Nonprofit Reviews
Review for Leadership Initiatives, Washington , DC, USA
Leadership Initiatives is nothing short of incredible. Over a year ago, I was fortunate enough to join three other students at my high school in the formation of an IBIP team. We collaborate weekly via Skype call; the primary focus of our efforts is to improve the hair salon business owned by our partner, Grace Adanu, from Bauchi State, Nigeria.
Through efficient collaboration and communication with both the American and Nigerian staffs of Leadership Initiatives, I've witnessed firsthand the blood, sweat, and tears that this nonprofit puts into every minute of every hour. My team's work has been occasionally disrupted by politically or religiously motivated extremism and emergencies in these Nigerian communities. The ability of Leadership Initiatives to effectively resolve these issues on a daily basis not only underscores the resilience of the whole program, but sets a problem-solving precedent for the IBIP teams themselves.
The week I spent last summer at the International Leadership and Business Summit at Georgetown University brought full circle all positive sentiments I'd acquired over the course of a year of online work with Leadership Initiatives. LI is unique: it strives to foster an unbreakable international bond that you can't just find anywhere. This initiative provides a platform for key Nigerian community figures to ensure the growth and development of their own businesses.
I am so honored to be part of an organization that succeeds in making the world a better place. I can't wait to see what Leadership Initiatives achieves in the future - they have the drive and dedication to do it all.
