Review for Sanctuary for Senior Dogs, Cleveland, OH, USA
This is one of the best, most professional and respectable rescues in Northeast Ohio. I spent several years volunteering for a local animal control which is how I first found out about them. Over those years I worked with over 100 rescues in 17 states working to give dogs with deadlines their second shot at life. Not many came anywhere near as close as reliable. They never pulled more than they could properly care for which is, unfortunately the beginning of the end for many rescues who mean well, but end up providing adequate care for dogs they pull as a result of overstretched resources.
I want to especially thank them for saving a dog named Fatgirl (renamed Fay Fay) from a home across the street from where I used to work. She was already around 12 years old. She had skin issues and extreme arthritis that was going untreated. The man in the home ended up in jail and the mom and child didn't have housing options as they were losing their lease. The Sanctuary for Senior Dogs stepped in when it was apparent that there were no other options. Fay Fay ended up getting medication that greatly helped her arthritis and she was trained as a therapy dog, giving back to her community with the support of the Sanctuary for Senior Dogs.
Attached is the first photo of took of her when she was in desperate need and the professional portrait from her therapy dog golden years after she was rescued.
