Review for AD-IN INC, Adoptions of Indiana, Carmel, IN, USA

Rating: 5 stars

After experiencing a failed pregnancy and infertility, my husband and I decided that adoption would be the best way to become parents. We researched different agencies and were grateful to work with Adoptions of Indiana. Our first meeting with Amy left us feeling hopeful that we had found an agency that was ethical, realistic, and child-centered. We learned what we should expect from domestic infant adoption, and Amy dispelled myths about open adoption. We knew right away that Adoptions of Indiana would be the best option.

The staff at AOI are caring, professional, and knowledgeable; they have decades of experience in the adoption field and with adoption in their personal lives. We could not have endured the stress, uncertainty, and self-doubt without AOI's staff and their support structures. The bimonthly While We Wait dinners facilitated by Allison allowed us to connect with other waiting families. We received guidance during each step of the process, and when we had questions, we knew we would receive thorough and timely responses. Post-placement, we have continued to reach out to AOI with questions, and we continue to receive support and advice. We know that we are part of a lifelong community and that AOI will always be there for us.

The agency is transparent and compassionate. The staff truly cares about all members of the adoption triad, but the real focus is on what's best for the child. As a result, we were required to undergo much-needed and much-appreciated workshops that helped us consider the perspective of expectant parents and birth moms. We learned about how to forge meaningful relationships with our child's birth family. We wrestled with tough and important issues regarding transracial adoption.

We were respected, but most importantly, we knew that expectant parents reaching out to AOI would be respected. Adoption can be a vulnerable experience for everyone involved, and it was important to us that we work with an ethical agency committed to professional, informed, and compassionate social work. We found that agency in Adoptions of Indiana. Furthermore, I like that AOI does not discriminate against any type of individual or family. They serve single adoptive parents, families of all configurations and backgrounds, and same-sex couples.

I highly recommend Adoptions of Indiana. Without them, we wouldn't have our beautiful daughter.
