Review for Averys Angels Gastroschisis Foundation, Wake Forest, NC, USA
#mygivingstory is how my son was born with a birth defect called Gastroschisis in 2oo8. Gastroschisis affects 1 in 2229 babies, at the time i knew nothing about it. About a year or so later i found a group called averys angels Gastroschisis foundation and started following them. Through the years it grew and grew. In 2014 i decided to use my personal truck and personal funds to decorate my truck with decals to help riase and spread awarness about the growing birth defect. I dedicate my time and resources participating in parades throwing out candy and awarness cards, particpate in car shows and drive to other towns to meet other gastroschisis families. This year i travled from Missouri to Florida to participate in the Gastroschisis Awareness Day and to allow other families to see the truck. I plan to go to different awareness day events in other states to almost everyone can see the truck. I have names of survivors and angels on the hood of my truck. They are all belly button superheros. I donate to, buy books and clothes from the foundation to help raises money to continue to raise awarness, research, mail care packages, give scholarships and be support. None of us get paid, its all volunteer. I plan to start taking the truck to hospitals so other kids and families can see the truck and just be someone there to talk to.
