Review for Diabetes Research Institute Foundation, Inc., Hollywood, FL, USA

Rating: 5 stars

My first experience with the DRI/DRIF was when I met Lori W. through email. Not only did she seem to care about my family, she made continued efforts to see how I was handling all of the emotional changes I was going through. Our "online" friendship turned into one of the best experiences of my life! I felt like I was part of her extented family and that I could always turn to her when I needed to... I will always be greatful for that! I decided that this new "family" was who I wanted to be affiliated with and decided to make the DRI our charity with our fundraising efforts. Since touring the DRI this May, it sealed the deal with whom I would be giving my money from our walk until a cure is found. The visit was the first time I felt any hope since Zach was diagnosed and I am honored to be a part of this wonderful new family!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

When I toured the DRI this May and kept being thanked for helping!

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Make every employee sign a promise to keep it personal! (They already do it now but for future employees!)

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

meeting all the wonderful people working so hard for kids like my Zachary!

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

very caring.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

still focus on keeping things very personal while finding a cure as quickly as possible!

Ways to make it better...

I could have spent a whole day watching the scientist/doctors do their stuff!

One thing I'd also say is that...

I wouldn't know where I'd be without the DRI/DRIF...they have given me so much hope and inspiration to keep going!

How frequently have you been involved with the organization?

About every week

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?

2009

Role:  Volunteer & I started a walk a thon.
