The Houston Ballet Foundation is an outstanding organization that supports the arts and brings the arts to all constituents of the Houston community. Our world-class ballet company has a world-class support foundation, and I am so grateful to be a part of this community.

I have supported OneSky since the very beginning 20 years ago when they were named Half the Sky. They work inside China with orphaned, developmentally disabled, and children left behind in villages. They bring hope and training to nannies and parents. They have almost singlehandedly changed the orphanage system from one of hopeless, listless babies laying in cribs, to one of joyful, bright children interacting with caregivers. They have been incredibly successful inside China due to their patient and respectful work within the Chinese system. The founder, Jenny Bowen, was even given the honor of carrying the torch during the Beijing Olympics. That says it all.

The Houston Ballet brings joy through the arts to people across the city and beyond. They are a top-notch company with an incredible work ethic and talent. They inspire all who see them with their rich artistry. They offer classes and performances to underserved children in Houston. Their value to this city can not be measured.

We have been supporting OneSky for almost 20 years. This organization has been incredibly successful in impacting the lives of orphaned children. They have earned the respect and trust of the Chinese government. They have trained thousands of nannies and caretakers. They have established preschools and programs for teens. They continue to expand upon their goal of making sure every child knows the love and care of a family. I've watched them grow from an organization of one woman's vision to a multi-country organization working closely with international governments. Their techniques work and thousands of children are now productive young adults as a result.

We have been OneSky sponsors ever since this charity's inception as Half the Sky. Jenny Bowen is one of my most admired women for creating, sustaining, and constantly improving the scope, reach, and effectiveness of the work that is being done for these children. She partners with the government and the people working on the ground to bring the maximum benefit to the children, and the maximum value from our donations. This is a remarkable organization.
