Review for A Different Breed Animal Rescue, Dallas, TX, USA

Rating: 1 stars

I called this group to pick up 4 abandoned chihuahua mixes. The end result, at least two, and perhaps the others are infected or dead as well, of the four dogs were infected with distemper in this group's "care." I had heard negative reviews about the group after I called them to pick up the dogs. As a result, I called or texted the group everyday to check on the dogs. I was told that the dogs were doing fine after their surgery. I wanted to visit them to see for my myself. When I arrived, the dogs were brought to me on a dirty couch with flies swarming the living room area (a much worse situation than the dogs were originally in!). One of the dog's nose was covering in mucus and he was coughing. I asked about the mucus and the cough and was told that it was kennel cough. (The other dog's eyes were almost plastered shut with mucus.) When I saw the state of two of the dogs, I couldn't leave them and decided to take them with me, as my dogs have been vaccinated for kennel cough. However, when I got them home, they were completely lifeless and would not eat any food. Then one of the dog's had bloody diarrhea, so I took them to the vet. When the vet saw them, they were running high temperatures and he said that they might have distemper or a bad case of canine flu. The sad ending to this story is that they have distemper and now one of the little boys is dead. He died on Monday, July 23. His name was Henry. I write this review to honor his life. He didn't deserve this. I have now learned a very hard lesson. You must research rescue groups, as they are not all worthy of the name "rescue."
