Review for Italian Greyhound Rescue Foundation Inc, Lima, NY, USA
I have been a volunteer with Italian Greyhound Rescue for 5 years. Rescue is comprised of a large group of people who give their time, make phone calls, do home visits, transport and open their homes to Italian Greyhounds who are in need. The priority of this rescue is the dogs. I am a foster home, and I have fostered 4 Italian Greyhounds. I also do home visits. This is to make sure the home is both a good fit, and safe for the dog who will be placed. I follow a 6 page guideline and report, that is then sent on to my rescue representative, Heather Johnson. Dogs in foster homes, are evaluated for what the like or dislike. Rescue has the health needs of the dog taken care of at this time. All dogs are up to date on their vaccines, spayed or neutered. If the dog needs dental care, it is taken care of. Rescue wants to match the adopting family, with the dog who is in foster care. Rescue wants the adopting family to be happy, and they want the dog to be a good fit.
I am transport volunteer. I have transported dogs that are surrendered, and puppy mill dogs who are often afraid and in need. During transportation, the safety of the Italian Greyhound is the top priority. The dogs are transported in a crate. This is to keep the dogs safe and secure at all times. I have been part of a transport chain, where volunteers meet along the route to get a dog into a safe foster home.
I have also had the pleasure of adopting a sweet older Italian Greyhound from this wonderful rescue.
I recommend this rescue to anyone who is considering an Italian Greyhound.
