Review for Matawi Inc, Lewiston, ME, USA

Rating: 5 stars

Matwi is an orgnization that is involved in a number of different projects all of which are aimed at improving the lives of refugee and immigrant communities especialy young women and girls. I first got to know about Matawi when Rachel and Pati- two of the founders- visited the refugee camp where i lived. Later when they invited me to join the board of directors and sent me a link to the website I was impressed by how much effort the founders made considering the fact that the orgnization is new and that they had very little resources. Matawi is dedicated to empowering young women whose edcuation and lives are suffering because of the economic and cultural hinderances

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Matawi has awareded a scholarship to one of the the girls in Dadab whom I know personally and whose need for the scholarship I understand. Matawi is also working hard to help other young women further their education either in East Africa or in the USA.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Increase their funds and also make sure more people are involved in the very noble to empower more women.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

The diversity of the people of matawi's members and board of directors and their determination to make Matawi's mission successful

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Very enthusiastic, passionate and hard working.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Make sure young girls and women from poor backgrounds get the education they deserve there by making this world a better place.

Ways to make it better...

Matawi had more funds so that Matawi can achieve its gaols faster.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Limited resources

One thing I'd also say is that...

Matawi is so far doing great and i hope with time it would go further and help more women.

How frequently have you been involved with the organization?

About every week

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?

Role:  Board Member & I wrote an article for matwi's first e news letter. The article was based on my personal experience on how hard getting education in the refugee camps is.
