My Nonprofit Reviews
Review for The Global Mountain Fund Inc, Sandia Park, NM, USA
I have just returned from 3 weeks at Her Farm, Mankhu.
For the first two weeks,I was in a constant state of awe....for the project and directors, for the women, the children, and the physical beauty.
Scott and Sunita made sure to support every step of the volunteering experience, from arrival at the airport in Kathmandu, and arrival at their guest house in town, to transportation via taxi , bus , and car to Her Farm. The women and children of her farm were friendly, loving, and supportive throughout. I found that I could volunteer in many ways. Physically, I was limited by some neck issues , but there are daily projects occurring with which one could keep very busy!... farming, painting, building, digging, etc. I assisted with homework assignments every morning, and child care in afternoons.I helped in kitchen prep, and even made momos.
I found that by spending my free time with the women while they worked, I was able to share experiences and stories.
Scott happily shared his wealth of information about Nepal, politically and socially, and Sunita shared her vision for the farm and it's potential impact on future generations of nepalis. They are incredibly loving, caring, and devoted to the project, and all the members of the community.
I would highly recommend Her Farm to any potential volunteer.you will learn so much more than you could ever imagine. The people are independent and capable, and don't require outside assistance, but happily try to improve their English and learn about the world beyond nepal.
