Review for Getmagic Corporation, San Jose, CA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

GetMagic is a wonderful opportunity for professionals who work in industry to share their experiences and career choices as a way of encouraging young women to pursue careers in STEM disciplines. Consequently, the young lady I mentored has indicated a strong interest in engineering and will be taking an Introduction to Engineering class in the fall. I believe our discussions about career opportunities in science and engineering related fields helped her to identify new interests and open the door to the academic path and career options for engineering. I endorse GetMagic as an opportunity for exposing young women to career opportunities in STEM disciplines and helping them to make critical decisions as this point in their lives.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

My mentee has expressed interest in college summer programs targeted towards high school students interested in science. I've been able to utilize my network to introduce her to people within my company and peers in academia who know of opportunities.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

I would definitely extend this program to more schools while maintaining ties with current schools. In addition, more people willing to be mentors would support the growth of the program initiatives.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

how I've positively influenced another person's life.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Conscientious and share a willingness to help others.

Ways to make it better...

I could have started earlier in the school year but this was due to my tardiness in completing the application.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...
