Review for Hubbard House Inc, Jacksonville, FL, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I just completed an internship at Hubbard House where I worked in the Development Department. I helped primarily with raising money for the annual Golf Tournament. I also worked in PR. This experience really helped open my eyes further to the service that Hubbard House provides for women and men. It provides a safe haven for people escaping domestic violence. It also provides education which helps identify domestic violence, educates youth at an early age about domestic violence and serves in an advocacy role in the community. The staff are very passionate about helping these victims not only escape but change their lives. It was very touching for me to occasionally ride the elevator with women who were staying at Hubbard House. It was sad and encouraging at the same time. This is a wonderful organization that provides a much needed service in Jacksonville.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Becoming more aware of domestic violence and its many forms.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Create some business models for part of their operations.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

Learning about domestic violence and the culture of a non profit organization

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Very professional and passionate about their work. Hard working.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Have more available beds/rooms. Have additional shelter in other parts of town. Hire more staff.

Ways to make it better...

I was able to cross train in other areas of the organization.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Ability to publicize the cause, fundraising in a hard economic environment.

One thing I'd also say is that...

Thank-you for the opportunity to intern and learn.

How frequently have you been involved with the organization?

About every week
