Review for Opus Bono Sacerdotii, Oxford, MI, USA
I am a life-long Roman Catholic. Growing up, priests were always visiting our house, sharing our meals, laughing and joking with my brother and me. It was a beautiful experience. My grandmother, an eminently practical woman, warned us that priests, unless saying Mass or in the confessional, were as human as anyone else. She said that the devil was after them more than anyone else because they had a special place in God's plan for our salvation. That their sins were very grave indeed. We should pray for their protection and always treat them with deference and respect, but to tell her if anything happened that seemed strange.
Along came the "abuse scandals." Satan really loves this. Priests were all under suspicion. Both the guilty and the innocent swept up in an orgy of condemnation. The shepherds were being fed to the wolves.
Opus Bono Sacerdotii (Good Work for Priests) has stepped in to offer help to these abandoned men of God. They bring not only financial assistance, but resources to heal those broken in soul and body. I would that I had unlimited resources to help the continue and expand their mission. I cannot think of a more worthy charity. After all, they give direct aid and comfort to Christ our Redeemer in the form of aiding and comforting Alter Christi (Other Christs)
